O Dia Nacional do Livro Infantil é comemorado nesta quinta-feira (18) e tem por finalidade valorizar o incentivo da leitura como uma ação prazerosa para crianças.
A data foi definida por ser o dia do nascimento do escritor Monteiro Lobato, reconhecido como o pai da literatura infantil brasileira, como forma de homenagem a ele. Normalmente com ilustrações coloridas, há livros infantis para todas as idades de crianças, até para as que ainda não sabem ler e ainda precisam apenas ouvir as historinhas, mas já criar o hábito da leitura.
Esses livros infantis costumam levar às crianças aprendizados sobre as emoções delas, sobre si mesmas, sobre relacionamentos familiares, amizades, vontades e possibilidades, obrigações e deveres. Ou ainda diversões inusitadas, mistérios e aventuras.
Os livros infantis desvendam para as crianças universos fantasiosos incríveis, mas que contribuem para a educação e o desenvolvimento delas na vida real. Neste sentido, e acima de tudo, o dia 18 de abril comemora a leitura infantil e seu universo lúdico e particular, sem deixar de lado a conscientização dos adultos e das instituições responsáveis pela formação da criança.
O incentivo à leitura é, portanto, um desafio para pais ou responsáveis, escolas, editoras, enfim, todo um país.
