Pia Sundhage concorre com outras duas gigantes do futebol feminino mundial. A premiação será entregue ainda em fevereiro.
A experiente treinadora da Seleção Brasileira Feminina de Futebol, a sueca Pia Sundhage, concorre entre as finalistas do prêmio Fifa The Best para a melhor treinadora do futebol feminino do mundo em 2022. Ela concorre com a holandesa Sarina Wiegman, da seleção inglesa, e a francesa Sonia Bompastor, do Lyon. A cerimônia da premiação da entidade acontece no dia 27 de fevereiro, em Paris. Segundo nota oficial da FIFA, o prêmio deve avaliar o desempenho das técnicas no período entre 7 de agosto de 2021 e 31 de julho de 2022.
A entidade explica que, no mês passado, foi divulgada uma lista de 14 nomes de treinadoras que concorriam ao prêmio, que em seguida foram escolhidas seis candidatas indicadas por um grupo de especialistas. Em fevereiro, chegará a hora de apresentar a técnica vencedora escolhida por uma equipe formada por treinadoras e capitãs das seleções femininas de todo o globo, além de jornalistas que cobrem o futebol feminino e torcedores que votam no site oficial da Fifa.
Esta é a quinta vez que a treinadora da nossa seleção está entre as três finalistas da premiação. Pia já foi eleita melhor treinadora do mundo em 2012, quando esteve à frente da seleção dos Estados Unidos. Após ter sido campeã com o selecionado norte americano, conquistando dois ouros olímpicos (2008 e 2012) e um vice campeonato na Copa do Mundo de 2011.
A Seleção Brasileira, sob o comando sempre marcante de Pia, entra em campo na próxima semana em um torneio nos Estados Unidos, a Copa SheBelieves. Nossas meninas do Brasil vão enfrentar as seleções do Japão, Canadá e as donas da casa, os Estados Unidos.
Nesta competição o Brasil estreia dia 16 diante do Japão, no Exploria Stadium, em Orlando. No mesmo dia e local, os Estados Unidos encaram o Canadá. No dia 19 de fevereiro, o Brasil encara o Canadá e os EUA pegam o Japão, em Nashville. O encerramento da disputa será no dia 22 com Brasil x EUA e Canadá x Japão, em Frisco, Texas.
