Na manhã do último sábado (8), um homem identificado como Elifas Almeida Maciel, de 31 anos, morreu durante uma intervenção policial no bairro São Lourenço, em Abaetetuba, após reagir a uma abordagem da Polícia Militar. Ele era foragido da Justiça e suspeito de envolvimento em diversos crimes, incluindo um assalto a uma clínica em Moju, no dia 8 de janeiro, e um roubo a uma distribuidora de bebidas em Abaetetuba, na PA-409, na noite da última sexta, 07.
Segundo informações da polícia, uma equipe do motopatrulhamento realizava rondas ostensivas quando recebeu uma denúncia anônima informando que suspeitos do roubo à distribuidora estariam escondidos em uma residência nos altos de um imóvel na Travessa Paraíso. Ao chegar ao local, a guarnição foi surpreendida por disparos de arma de fogo feitos por um homem que tentava fugir. Diante da agressão, os policiais revidaram e atingiram o suspeito.
Após ser baleado, Elifas foi socorrido com o apoio de uma viatura policial e do Samu e levado à UPA de Abaetetuba, mas não resistiu aos ferimentos.
Durante a operação, a polícia apreendeu diversos itens no local: 1 revólver calibre .38 (com 4 munições picotadas e 2 deflagradas); 3 celulares (2 da marca Redmi e 1 Samsung); 1 notebook Compaq; 10 pares de semi-joias e 2 relógios masculinos; Cerca de 79g de maconha divididas em porções menores.
