O Comitê Paralímpico Brasileiro (CPB) anunciou nesta terça-feira, 25, a convocação de 124 atletas de 10 modalidades que representarão o Brasil nos Jogos Paralímpicos de Paris 2024, que acontecerão de 28 de agosto a 8 de setembro. A convocação de toda a delegação brasileira será realizada em três partes. Os demais nomes dos atletas que vão competir na capital francesa serão anunciados nos próximos dias 11 e 18 de julho.
O Pará terá dois representantes: Lucilene da Silva Sousa na natação e Josemarcio da Silva Sousa, do goalball masculino. Ambos são irmãos. Lucilene nasceu com atrofia no nervo ótico, o que resultou em baixa visão. Antes de ser nadadora, jogou goalball por influência do irmão mais velho, Josemarcio, e conquistou uma medalha de ouro nos Jogos Parapan-Americanos de Jovens da modalidade, em 2017, em São Paulo. Depois disso, decidiu migrar para a natação paralímpica.
Josemarcio, conhecido também como “Parazinho”, nasceu com distrofia no nervo ótico. O atleta conheceu o goalball por meio do irmão, também jogador, e a treinadora o convidou a experimentar o esporte, se tornando sua paixão. Foi convocado pela primeira vez para a Seleção Brasileira em 2013.
