A equipe policial da DEAM/DEACA de Abaetetuba se dirigiu até a escola municipal Valdecir Santana, Zona rural de Abaetetuba, para orientar os alunos sobre o combate ao abuso e a exploração sexual de crianças e adolescentes. Após a apresentação da equipe, as assistentes sociais abordaram, de forma lúdica e participativa, assuntos relacionados à Campanha Maio Laranja, utilizando o semáforo do toque, fantoches, panfletos e folder.
Através das dinâmicas, as crianças puderam identificar as partes do seu corpo que não podem ser tocadas. Foram realizadas orientações de como proceder a denúncia, caso ocorra esse tipo de violência em desfavor dessa criança ou adolescente. No final, foram distribuídos doces e brinquedos para as crianças e para os adolescentes.
Segundo pesquisas a cada hora 3 crianças são abusadas no Brasil. Cerca de 51% tem entre 1 a 5 anos de idade.
Todos os anos 500 mil crianças e adolescentes são explorados sexualmente no nosso país e há dados que sugerem que somente 7,5% dos dados cheguem a ser denunciados às autoridades, ou seja, estes números na verdade são muito maiores.
Uma das principais formas de ajudar no combate à violência sexual contra crianças e adolescentes é através da denuncia. As denúncias podem ser feitas pelo Disque 100, que funciona 24 horas por dia, todos os dias da semana.
