A Fifa (Federação Internacional de Futebol) anunciou na última 2ª feira (11.set.2023) o banimento é de forma vitalícia e internacional para os 3 jogadores brasileiros envolvidos em esquemas de apostas e manipulação de resultados de jogos no Brasil. Os primeiros a serem punidos pela entidade máxima do futebol são: Ygor Catatau, Gabriel Tota e Matheus Philippe, estão banidos do esporte para o resto da vida. Ou seja, não irão mais atuar como jogadores de futebol profissional.
Além dos 3, a entidade também ampliou para a esfera internacional a punição de outros 8 jogadores, afastados temporariamente do esporte pelo STJD (Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva). As sanções variam de 360 a 720 dias, a contar a partir da data de condenação, mais aplicação de multas.
Os jogadores condenados pelo Tribunal e sancionados pela Fifa são os seguintes:
Ygor Catatau (banido e multa de R$70.000);
Gabriel Tota (banido e multa de R$30.000);
Matheus Philippe (banido e multa de R$10.000);
Paulo Sérgio (600 dias e multa de R$50.000);
Paulo Miranda (720 dias e multa de R$70.000);
Fernando Neto (360 dias e multa de R$15.000);
Eduardo Bauermann (360 dias e multa de R$30.000);
Mateusinho (600 dias e multa de R$50.000);
André Luiz (600 dias e multa de R$50.000);
Moraes (720 dias e multa de R$55.000);
Kevin Lomónaco (360 dias e multa de R$25.000).
A decisão da Federação vem depois de autoridades brasileiras abrirem investigações contra os jogadores e instauração de processos disciplinares abertos pela CBF (Confederação Brasileira do Futebol).
A operação Penalidade Máxima, como ficou conhecida, iniciou em novembro de 2022 a partir de uma denúncia de Hugo Jorge Bravo, então presidente do Vila Nova Futebol Clube, que também é policial militar. O clube, sediado em Goiânia (GO), identificou a manipulação de 3 partidas da Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro para atender a interesses de apostadores.
Um dos envolvidos era o volante Romário, jogador do próprio Vila Nova que foi ameaçado depois de não cumprir um dos acordos que lhe renderia R$ 150 mil. A 1ª fase da investigação foi deflagrada em 14 de fevereiro, quando foram cumpridos mandados de busca, apreensão e uma prisão temporária em Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro.
Já a 2ª fase identificou a influência do grupo criminoso em 8 partidas da Série A do Campeonato Brasileiro. A investigação ganhou notoriedade nacional na 3ª feira (9.mai.2023) com o indiciamento de jogadores da série A do Campeonato Brasileiro.
