No primeiro tempo, o Fluminense mostrou que não estava para brincadeira. O Tricolor dominava as ações de jogo e encurralava o Flamengo.
Os gols da vitória tricolor foram marcados por Marcelo, Cano (duas vezes) e Alexsander. Ayrton Lucas descontou. Entregue em campo, o Flamengo foi passageiro da agonia enquanto o Flu seguia empurrado por sua torcida, que gritou “olé” nos minutos finais.
No Rubro-negro, a perda de mais um título aumenta a pressão sobre o técnico Vítor Pereira, que até esta edição segue sendo oficialmente o técnico rubro-negro, porém informações extra oficiais já consideram sua demissão como certa e sendo questão de horas para o anúncio oficial.
